By way of introduction, an explanation of the title. As an economics major at Smith College (where I am currently a senior), I was told that "It Depends" was the appropriate answer to any question in an economics course. The complexity, of course, and the better answer, lay in figuring out what the solution depended on, to what extent, and what other variables may have an effect. In this blog, I hope to explore those questions with regards to my interests in economic development, the environment, the much-used term "sustainability," and urban and regional planning. The title, I hope, signals to the reader that I am unsure if proposals and thoughts here approach the/a correct answer, and so I welcome comments, alternative hypotheses, and new information.
